CATS AND ROBBERS
A popular retrieval activity, in one column pupils write everything that they remember about the topic, they then consult their partner and write down what they have forgotten in the second column.

BECAUSE, BUT, SO
​Though a simple activity, the rigour comes in the content. This activity is ideal when coming across an exam question for the first time.
MULTI PARAGRAPH OUTLINE
​To help students structure their essays. It can also be used to help students deconstruct past and model essays.
SUPPORTING STATEMENTS
The activity requires students to evaluate the statement and decide whether it is an argument for or against (AO2). This is an easy way for students to be introduced to different scholars and the supporting statements can be amended with short quotes.

CORNELL NOTES
Useful way for students to tackle a text. They can write keywords in the narrow column and the main ideas in the larger column and summarise at the bottom.
Vocabulary
WORD WALLS
Can be used for a variety of activities, including Six Degrees of Separation, Pick Three and Explain a Link, or write quiz questions for five of them to use as a starter next week. Ideal as a plenary or a starter.
